2009 – present Lead Lecturer - Griffith College
I am currently working in Griffith College as a lecturer in the fashion faculty tutoring students in pattern drafting and garment construction. Within this role I am responsible for writing the module content to provide high quality education and student achievements. Plan and organise classes, projects and assessment criteria for second year and final degree year students inline with quality and standards set by the QQI. Develop teaching strategies to engage students while challenging them to achieve their maximum potential and prepare them for industry and the job market. 2008 – 2009 Freelance design - Avoca 2005 – 2007 Head Designer - Leo Fashions Ltd With a wealth of experience in design and creating original garments that follow well established fashion trends I worked for Max Pierre to bring a new element to the company which was under a transition from classic ladies wear to a more youthful women’s wear brand. With in-depth knowledge to analyse fashion trends, predictions, consumer preferences and sourcing ability I designed a new smart casual co-ordinate range individualistic but commercial to increase the existing customer base. I researched current trends by reading trade magazines and attending shows, visiting textile showrooms to keep up to date on latest fabrics. Comparing merchandise with those of the competitors. With an excellent eye for colour and composition I designed fabric print and artwork for embellishments to compliment the collections. I have proven ability to work within a team to create a cohesive collection. I have a strong ability to multi-task with excellent time management skills. With great attention to detail, understanding briefs and strong creative technical ability I produced seasonal sales books, promotional material and catalogues. 2003 – 2005 Head Designer - Rufio Kids As Head designer / Product Developer I was responsible for the design and development of the seasonal collections to achieve an individual and unique brand of clothing for boys and girls age 2 to 8 years. With ability to communicate information and ideas from sketch and detailed drawings, specification sheets, colour, fabric type and a strong emphasis on artwork I worked with overseas suppliers to develop sample collections, travelling periodically to modify and approve final garments ready for showings at trade fairs and to press and buyers. 2001 – 2003 Designer - Hobo Clothing Ltd Designing for a well known street wear brand for boys and girls, target market age 14 to 25. I restructured the brand from item based to capsule collections with co-ordinating garments for associated sales. I was passionate and enthusiastic using my ability in Photoshop to create & design a new successful baby wear label “lil’ hobo” for ages 6 months to 3 years. 1998 – 2001 Sales/Product Developer - Styletex Limited Design presentation of capsule collections for high street and chain stores customers such as Sasha, and A-wear. Costing garments for Irish & overseas production. Sourcing fabrics & trims from local, European and Far Eastern contacts. Liaised with design room and manufacturers on samples and production. |
